Before and After
We had to get a new TV….or so we thought. Our TV kept going off by itself, so we thought it was the TV going bad. What a great opportunity to get that new 55″ LCD flat screen TV. I had to special order the one we wanted from Best Buy and wait on it for two LONG weeks. Once it arrived, my husband and I quickly set it up. After we had it on for about ten minutes, it turned off by itself! Come to find out, our old TV was not bad….it was the cable box! Wow….what a very expensive way to find out we needed a new cable box! Oh well, at least we got that new TV out of the ordeal. While I love the new TV….I am not sure that I like the appearance of the room once we got it in there. Not the whole room, just that space in which the TV resides.
What do you think? Any suggestions?

Maybe your used to the big stand. What about a bigger stand I would be scared it was going to tip over but with my 4 kids it WOULD tip over..lol Nice TV though
LOL, we went through this same ordeal… but our TV was ancient & dh had been salivating over any larger flat screen for eons! we upgraded to a 45″ that now sits on top of the old entertainment center, until I find a better solution. I do like the idea of hanging up above our fireplace, but dh does not… I love the entertainment center you had before, it had to be hard to put that away.
That is one big difference! If we hadn’t found a great stand @ Costco…I think I would have mounted ours to the wall.
Very exciting to get a nice big new tv! I agree with Crystal. I think the TV looks a bit too big for its stand. Happy Wednesday!
Our 55 inch is on a shorter, wider stand we bought for really cheap at Target and we love it!! Good excuse for you to come over and visit. . .then you can see it!
Aren’t big TV’s great! Unfortunately they do also need bigger stands. Or maybe get it mounted on the wall?
throw a blanket over it when it is off?
I like it. Nice big television that you can see from across the room. Awesome.
Have a terrific WW.
Is that Plankton?
Nice TV but I see what you mean. Looks like a frat house set up… You’ll prob have to buy a special entertainment center to fit that tv.
We are having problems here trying to figure out the best way to ‘showcase’ our, too. Maybe a bigger table will help it look more proportional… ???
HAHAHAAAAA Mitch!!
Tiffany
I think that is Plankton….Maybe?? I know it was spongebob. That is all that is ever on in this house, LOL!!
I think it looks nice. But if you don’t like it on the stand, can you all perhaps mount it on the wall, and use the table as an end-table?
Good luck! And Happy WW!!!
Frat house set up is exactly what I see! I just couldn’t come up with the words for it….Thank you!
Nice! Wide screen viewing is so narrow it requires a much larger screen to see what’s going on! (I bet you loved it too when the other was new
Is it big enough, because my husband says it isn’t
Not a bad buy. Now you’ve got yourself a really nice tv.
Yep, maybe just a bigger stand, but NICE TV!
Looks great, you can see how vivid and clear the picture is! Enjoy your new TV!
I think a larger tv stand would look great!
That so sounds like something that would happen to us! I really like it but I agree maybe a bigger stand to help balance it out.
lol. We just had a similar experience. But the bigger tv will be fun!
Enjoy your new tv and good luck with the decorating!
woah! nice! i would love to have one of those soon!
We got a new tv this year and we hung ours on the wall. We purchased a stand for underneath that houses the dvd player, xbox and all of our movies…we love it!
It is a wonderful t.v. but I agree with Michelle above me. My husband keeps saying we need a larger t.v. dont think I will be able to hold him off much longer. ; )

I suspect you’ll get used to the new look of the space over time, especially with such a big screen to distract you!
Oh I don’t know, I quite like the space! We have a big unit from Ikea for ours.
That’s a really big TV.. would it be better if you hang it on the wall like a painting instead of putting it in a corner?..just a suggestion.
I love the big TV’s now they are still smaller than the big old ones but with bigger screens if you get what i mean.
Yours is great and i think the cable box done you a favour
Happy WW!
LOL that is a VERY expensive way to find out you have a broken cable box! Yikes! As for the room, I think you need a wider TV stand to balance the TV a little. Just a thought
Or can you wall-mount it? That’s generally a pain, though. My hubby and my dad spent a good part of the day once mounting a 40 inch over the fireplace in our sitting area. Holes were cut, cables threaded, cursing was involved….it wasn’t pretty. Happy Wednesday!
It became a mess!
Looks great ! I agree that your cable box did you a favor!
My husband would of been thrilled with the new tv too!
I would hang it. We put our 46 inch on the wall and it looks so good…might be a thought.
Have fun enjoying that new big screen! New follower from Wordless/Wordful Wednesday!
Yowza! Now that’s a tv.
When we got a new tv at first we were using an old coffee table as a stand and we put a really nice table cloth on the table first so you couldn’t see all the wires hanging down. That worked for a while then we broke down and got a tv stand. We got one that has one of those things where you can mount the tv up higher and the wires are hidden in the arm that holds it up and then the shelf is clear for pictures or the cable box. However the whole fits “most” didn’t apply to our tv so we have it sitting on the top shelf. The top shelf that the tv sits on is about 6 inches wider on each side than the tv is so maybe a wider tv stand would help you.
OOOh I know that feeling. It happened to me too!
That’s a lot of TV!
Hey there! I love the new tv and it looks fine. Maybe a little too big for the stand, but it doesn’t look bad. New follower from Wordless Wednesday, drop on by if you get the chance, thanks!

Nice tv. I am your newest follower and would love if you hopped by to check out my blog at kittycrochettwo.blogspot.com. Have a fantastic day!
We’re going through the same thought process, only haven’t bought our TV yet. We’d love a big flat screen, but where does it go that it’s not the ONLY thing you see?

Expensive lesson but nice TV.
I like it fine.
Thanks for sharing and linking up.
I see nothing wrong with the after! Bigger is better right?
Could you maybe put it somewhere where it could be flat against a wall rather than in the corner?
Wow I bet a lot men would love that TV. Happy ww
Nina
we ended up putting ours on the wall too (as someone else mentioned). it just didn’t look right anywhere else… although… i think it may actually be a bit too high now… at least from the sofa
VERY expensive but nice
thanks for post
Mount it to the wall! That’s what we did with ours, and actually we just switched it from one wall to a corner and love it so much better. Then you can eliminates the bulky stand and get a streamlined shelf mount for the cable box and dvd player. It’s more work but it makes it look better. Congrats on the upgrade.
